Here’s my most recent poem that I’ve written. You’ll have to use your imagination, who is the girl? Who is the mysterious messenger? Is it really a bird or is it just a metaphor? To be honest I don’t even know what the answer to any of these questions are, but I do know that they can be anything you want them to be.
Here it is:
CRY
Young girl, you know not I,
but I will hear your cry.
I have come to give you word,
of an evil, cunning bird,
who swoops down from the sky,
that’s when I’ll hear you cry.
If you listen to the knowledge and the wisdom in my eye,
then I will guarantee I will completely satisfy.
So run away, away I say,
safe from harm and danger, I pray.
So keep your nerves of steel
and you’ll be safe, I know you will.
What a wonderful poem Gracie. Maturely written with visions conjured up with each sentence. One of my fav poems from you so far….. Apart from all the poems you’ve written for me before!!

What a beautiful, haunting poem Gracie. As Alice says, your best so far, although that’s not to say the others aren’t any good! Keep it up you’ll soon have enough to make a book xx

Like the metaphors and the rhyming scheme, Gracie. Interesting that you should be wrestling with poetry. What inspired you?

Thanks Emma, I learn poetry from my friend’s mum and really enjoy it. I wanted to write a really dramatic, spooky poem and now I have.
