Day 43 – Yum Yum and more Yum

IRYS

Today me and Gracie made some raw cakes.

Dates, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut, coco, honey, oats & peanut butter

Dates, cashews, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut, cocoa, honey, oats & peanut butter

This is how we made them:

We chopped one cup of dates and put them in a pan.  Then we put it on the stove with a little bit of water in it and some honey.

We stirred the mixture to make the water soften the dates.

I then chopped coconut whilst Gracie  stirred the mixture.

We added some cocoa powder, peanut butter and then some cashews.  Then we stirred them in.

I helped mum sieve through some seeds.  We put oats in too then added the sunflower and pumpkin seeds.

Me and Gracie spooned the mixture into two pans and then packed it down so that when its ready it doesn’t crumble too much.

Packed down

We put it in the cool box to set.

It was REALLY yummy.

  1. Ooh, they sound delicious. I make similar raw treats called Bliss Balls, which consist of dried fruit, nuts, seeds, nut butter, coca, coconut etc blitzed together. Whatever you fancy all together really. I then roll them into balls, sometimes coating in dessicated coconut, sometimes Iin coca powder depending on what I have added. They then keep in the fridge for as long as they last! A really nice way to have a sweet treat that is also nutritious and good for you. I also love Paradise Bars (just Google for the recipe) – basically a mixture of coconut oil, creamed coconut, dessicated coconut, vanilla paste, a touch of salt and honey (I use less than the recipe as coconut is sweet), coated with dark chocolate (I just top with chocolate). They are my favourite treat at the moment!
