When I sat down to post today, I was going to share some quotes that have inspired me recently, but then I thought differently. I am surrounded by people talking about things whilst the problem just gets worse and, although I definitely see the importance of communicating and sharing thoughts, I also see the need for action.
My Dad has always told me ‘deeds not words’ and I believe he’s right. It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the darkness around us, but we have to use the emotion, that anger, sadness and confusion, to make a difference.
So that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to put my energy into solving problems and creating solutions and I want you to do the same. This applies to everything – relationships & friendships as well as bigger issues that affect our families, communities and society.
Yaaaaaas girl. I totally agree!!!!!!We gotta turn that pain in to something productive.
Also I could see you working in the U.N.

You are quite right my girl, you can spend all day talking but if you don’t do what you say then you’re a hypocrite…
…unless your writing inspires others.

Might elaborate on that…
It matters not the gage of our perception but more our appreciation.
I’ll say that again for sure!

Exactly, Tom! But what’s the point of inspiring, if you do nothing about it yourself? Surely that’s the true definition of hypocritical? 😉

My statement was supposed to be a little ironic! Though surely an orchestra without a conductor doesn’t play.
He is the route to the music tho he makes, not a sound.
Actually, there are holes in what I just said because a conductor usually plays many instruments as well…
…but not as he’s conducting.
Oh well, the metaphor that goes nowhere, that’s life!
So your probably right my girl…
…again!
Guess that’s life as well!

I am currently trying to deal with a lot of stressful problems. It’s hard for me to find my next step, but you’re right; it’s better for me to take action (somehow) on this, instead of just talking about it.

I do believe this is very true and it is very wise for your father to teach you that. “Action speak louder than words” for sure.

Your Dad is spot on as always. A very sensible person! Pressure needs to come from grassroots to make the powers that be stop, listen and change. At the moment we are continuing blithely onwards towards a totally unknown future. You are the future and you have the opportunity to make and shape it. Go for it in whatever way you and your peers feel is best xxx

This is something worth thinking about. I’m kind of the angry speaker, short-tempered and quick with words when it’s something I care about, or something that I can strongly connect with. But a lot of topics, like stereotyping and body shaming, I don’t do more than talk about. Sometimes talking feels good. Sometimes talking doesn’t feel like enough. I know that we’ve got to do something, but I just don’t know what.
I’m still figuring it out though, and I hope I’ll be able to turn that anger into whatever sort of difference it’s possible for me to make.

I agree, and yes, I can be like that too 😁 I really do think that talking is important, but that there’s a time for that and a time for doing something about it. I hope we can all channel our emotion into making a difference xx

This is what I’ve been working on a lot recently!! Instead of talking about wanting things to change, I’m going to ACTUALLY change. Let’s talk about our progress as we go along instead of talking about the progress we want to make someday!
Great post, and an awesome reminder, Gracie! 🙌🏼💖

So definitely true, Gracie. It’s something I struggle with a lot, I might think or talk about doing something but then I freak out of actually doing it. But when I think about the future and realize the regrets I could have from freaking out it kinda helps.
